We're still here

Life with two kids has definitely been a harder adjustment than we expected... which explains me not posting for a couple months. So lets begin in June. In my last post after Harper's birth I said recovery was so much easier that Drake's....well, I was wrong the pain apparently hadn't set in yet when I wrote that post. It was pretty horrible and lasted longer than Drake's recovery. I couldn't sit up to nurse (nursing problems could be a whole post all on its own, but I'll skip that) or eat or do much of anything that required me to move. This. Lasted. Four.Weeks!! Long story short, I finally went to the doctor with encouragement from my husband only to find out that I was still healing. But then the doctor explained to me that even though the tear wasn't to the degree of Drake's it was actually worse because of the type of episiotomy I received and because I already had tons of scar tissue from my first pregnancy. Awesome. So there was nothing they could do but give me a prescription for percocet and send me on my way. After another long week of crying and drugs I woke up one morning feeling great. Crazy.
Then we had a month of constant sicknesses and colds circulating through our house. And unfortunately, Harper got sick quite a few during her first couple months. How do you keep your baby healthy was a toddler around?! NO matter how careful we were or how much I nursed/pumped she always got Drake's sicknesses. Then during all this we had a pretty consistent flow of visitors (which we totally loved). So this summer was busy and hasn't left me with much time to do much of anything. 5 months later, I finally feel like life is starting to get a little big easier with two kids.
Now on to our beautiful Harper. She is amazing. I can not say enough wonderful things about her because she really is an amazing baby. She's smiles all the time, she squeals whenever I walk into the room (sometimes I leave the room just so I can enter again 10 seconds later to see her squeal), and she sleeps well (for a newborn that is). I really can not imagine our little family without her.
Drake seems to be quite smitten with Harper as well. He is always asking if he can hold or talk to "sissy". He  loves being able to share his activities with her and to show her off to his friends. Although, it was a little bit of a rough start for Drake after Harper was born. He has always been sweet to her (thank heavens), but he definitely started to get difficult after Harper's birth. But who knows maybe that's just him being a 3 year old. He has started to get better and now he is actually helpful at times. He can even entertain Harper for a minute if I need to get something done. Harper and Drake absolutely adore each other! It makes my heart melt in when they see each other in the morning. Drake always runs over to his sister to say "hi sissy" and to kiss her and Harper always smiles and stares at him. Harper loves her big brother!

Well here's some pictures of our summer as a family of four....(have to start from last May since I'm so behind)

Drake turned 3 in June. Drake's birthday is exactly a month after Harper's. Harper's is May 4th and Drake's is June 4th. Since we had a busy month we just threw a pretty simple backyard pool party/BBQ for all Drake's friends. His favorite presents for his Birthday were a scooter and a play kitchen.

here's our fourth of July and Harper's blessing
