Guess who got their first tooth over Halloween!?! For weeks, Drake kept waking up in the middle of the night and crying, so we finally decided to take him to the doctor to see what was wrong. I told the doctor he's been drooling and chewing on everything in sight, but the doctor told me it was very unlikely that he'd be teething at such a young age. Unfortunately, he did have an ear infection and a cold but, he was wrong about the teeth. We kept checking his teeth because he was showing signs of teething, but felt nothing. Then a week later, Drake was crying in the car and I looked down and saw it... our Drake has not only one tooth popping out, but has another one right next to it starting to show! I guess we should have expected this because Drake has always been an early developer. He started standing up at 3 weeks old, as well as holding his head up, making eye contact, and smiling earlier than most babies. Now he's rolling 360's like crazy and showing signs of crawling! I guess we should have just expected his teeth to come early too!
Over Halloween weekend, Brett had his big national PE (professional Engineering) licencing exam. Utah makes you work for 4 years before you get your licence so he took it in CA since it only requires 2 years of work experience. Also, we don't plan on staying in Utah for too long and most states recognize the CA license and not Utah. Brett has been studying nonstop for about 4 months. he would wake up at 5:30 in the morning to study early at work and then some nights he would go to a class and not get home till after 9:00. He even studied on Saturdays! It was hard not being able to spend much time with him the last couple months but I'm proud of him for working so hard! The test was 2 days... the first day it was an 8 hour exam, and the second day was 6. Sounds horrible to me! But, he's done and my husband is back and Drake loves his dad home. We won't know the results of the test for a couple months so cross your fingers! Only 15 percent of people pass all the tests the first time, but I'm sure Brett did awesome!
Since Brett was headed to Northern CA, we decided that Drake and I would go along to hang out with Brett's parents and my best friend, Susie (Susie is the one who introduced Brett and I in case you didn't know). Susie has an adorable little boy named Liam who just turned 1. So we hung out with Susie and Liam and Brett's parents and had a great weekend!

I was so excited to take Drake to his first pumpkin patch and of course he fell asleep after a couple minutes there and missed the whole thing. Oh well, at least we got a few pictures:)
Happy Halloween! Couldn't resist a little photo shoot of Drake for Halloween! He's was a little skunk and might I say the cutest skunk I've ever seen! I originally got him a cute duck costume and of course Brett thought it looked to girlie... so I returned that because heaven forbid he doesn't look manly, and got the skunk costume instead. But, after I got it and tried it on him, I realized that it looked a like a kitten from the front. Oh well, he looks adorable no matter what you put him in and no one mistook him for a kitten! Everyone trick or treating kept making comments about the cute skunk so I thought it was a good choice!

Susie and I dressed the boys up and took them around Susie's neighborhood for a little trick or treating. Oh course the boys didn't get the candy, but the parents did! It's so fun being able to mooch off your kid!
After Brett's test we had a whole day together while everyone had to work so we headed up to the Sacramento area. Brett actually proposed to me in Folsom, which is east of Sacramento so we decided to go there and reminisce with Drake. We haven't been back there since he proposed 4 years ago (a few weeks short of being exactly 4 years). It was so fun taking Drake on the hike and to show him the special place where his parents got engaged. The trees were green and beautiful... we couldn't have asked for better weather!
Brett showing Drake the ducks! This picture is actually for my mom... when I told her we were thinking about naming our baby Drake the first thing she said was "like the Duck?" A male duck is apparently called a Drake which didn't even occur to Brett and I. But I had to reply and say, "well you named me after a duck" because my mom told me that she got my middle name Teal from a duck. So I guess Drake and I are just a couple of ducks!:)

This is never a sign you want to see! It actually says "keep your children close, as mountain lions are especially drawn to them". I told Brett to hold Drake close and to not expose his neck since mountain lions go for the neck. This I learned from the show "When Animals Attack" (fyi-not a good show for someone who is a hypochondriac like me). Then the rattlesnake one didn't help either. I'm not nervous about snakes, but when your husband tells you "you just about stepped on a snake" it starts to make you a little nervous. I guess I just about stomped on a snake! So I made sure to look at the ground the rest of the way!
If you look closely you can see a cat head popping out from behind the tree. Now imagine seeing the mountain lion sign and then seeing this! Apparently, there was a family of cats living along the trail so I got a little scared every time I saw eyes popping out of dark places and cat heads appearing behind trees and bushes.
This is the picture from our proposal 4 years ago! Brett proposed to me on that very rock minutes before the picture was taken! It was so fun to return to our spot! It's crazy to think it's been 4 years since he proposed! I love him and am so grateful for him and Drake. They make me so happy!

Just some more pictures of the beautiful area! Brett and I even looked at houses while we were there! We always talked about moving to the area because it's beautiful and green like Virginia (which is where I'm from) and has the nice of weather of California (where Brett is from). It seems like the perfect place for us:) But we'll see where we end up, we'll be happy no matter where we go!
